II Chronicles 9:17 - 19:
- Moreover the king made a great throne of ivory, and overlaid it with pure gold. And there were six steps to the throne, with a footstool of gold, which were fastened to the throne, and stays on each side of the sitting place, and two lions standing by the stays: And twelve lions stood there on the one side and on the other upon the six steps. There was not the like made in any kingdom.
The king has a great throne. It was made of ivory, overlaid with pure gold. Ivory's root word is Shawnan; which means to pierce - inculate, prick, sharpen, teach diligently, whet (as a blade). Any time you approach the throne you will be pierced, sharpened, instructed, made more refined. You will come away better, sharper, stronger than when you went in. It was also covered with gold. Not only pure, but soft. An easy edge on the defining blade. The following is what I see as six steps to approaching the throne of God, and how you will become whetted, strengthened and refined.
- Have Faith. Hebrews 11:1 - Hope to go to heaven, hope God is real. Heaven let alone God, is invisible, you must simply believe. Hebrews 11:6
- Approach Him. Hebrews 4:16, Micah 6:6-8 We must enter his gates...we must come before him. Nothing happens until we stand before God on his throne. We have a high priest that will make intercession for us, but only if we approach him.
- Humble Yourself. 2 Chronicles 7:14 - Phillipians 2:8, 12 - Follow Christ's example. REMEMBER, you are approaching the throne of God, the seat of his majesty, the Creator. You cannot approach it within your own ego, you must humble yourself.
- Receive His Counsel. Micah 7:9 and Hebrews 4:12. his word will define you as iron sharpeneth iron. So many people are concerned with the WHO that they forget the WHAT. Be a hearer of the word, if not a hearer only. HE IS THE GREAT COUNSELLOR. Don't waste the word!
- Obey His Word. Exodus 24:7 and Isaiah 1:19 and Zechariah 6:15. You want to be a builder in God's Kingdom? Draw people? THEN OBEY HIS WORD! Obedience is the key to success in what He is telling you. Everything else means nothing. You can perform without obedience, but you cannot obey without performance!
- PERFORM His Word. Matthew 7: 24-27, James 1:22, 23-25. DO IT. PRACTICE WHAT YOUR LIFE PREACHES....Do not just listen, ACT!
Follow these six steps and you will not only approach the throne, you will be shaped and developed by the king, and learn to dwell in the throneroom. Keep yourself together and you will properly approach your savior with success and growth.
In Love,
